Set along the banks of the Cowlitz River in Randle, Washington, our River Basecamp is your launch point into the wild heart of the Goat Rocks region. Wide skies, moving water, and open meadow replace the noise of everyday life. You’re close enough to town for ease, yet tucked into 70 acres of private land that feels worlds away.
Centrally located between Mount Rainier, Mount St. Helens, and Mount Adams, and just an hour from our trailheads in the Goat Rocks Wilderness, this two-night retreat gives you access to some of the most spectacular terrain in the Pacific Northwest.
Our Meadows Edge site sits directly on the riverbank, with easy access to the water. One sprawling maple tree offers shade, surrounded by open meadow and sun. It’s the kind of place where mornings start slow with coffee by the river and evenings end barefoot in the grass.
Your full adventure day includes a shuttle into the high country of Goat Rocks, supporting several route options to meet you where you are. Choose a longer one-way ridge traverse, a point-to-point adventure, or a short and sweet loop. Every route is thoughtfully designed to flow downhill or back toward access points and ends with a visit to our precious alpine gem, Walupt Lake, before we return to camp.
Build the experience that fits you. Add nourishing meals, roundtrip transportation from Portland, and a fully outfitted camping kit, or come self-supported if that’s more your style. We handle the logistics, trail guidance, and shuttle support so you can move how you want and rest how you need.
Come solo or bring your crew. You’ll leave with dirt on your shoes, river in your hair, and that unmistakable alpenglow that lingers long after the weekend ends.
